  • Get Your Trade Show Customers Animated About Your Product

Posted on April 9th, 2015 admin No comments

Grab your customers’ attention with a colorful and informative animated video presentation. Sometimes it’s hard to make your booth stand out during a trade show so let CalCo help you attract customers in an exciting way. We can create a presentation that will captivate and educate your audience. From a small filter to a full oil rig and from one product to a full process, CalCo can help your customers understand the importance of your product and how its unique characteristics create market advantages. Whether you need a 5 second animation of the product to demonstrate how it works or a 30 minute marketing video covering your entire corporation,  we can create a customized presentation for your product or company.

Once complete, the video can be used for trade shows, investor presentations, website videos, You Tube promotions or any other purpose you can imagine.  These animations can easily be scaled throughout your entire organization at multiple levels.  They can be used alone or in conjunction with cutaways or other displays to highlight your product.

Contact CalCo at 847/639-3858 to discuss ways video animation can help you!  More examples are located on our website at www.calcocutaways.com/electronic-media/

  • Circor’s Stunning Model Upstages at PowerGen

Posted on December 18th, 2014 admin No comments

    Aeroflow SCV

Circor put the “show” in trade show at the recent PowerGen show in Orlando and CalCo helped them by creating an eye-catching model of their Aeroflow SCV, steam conditioning valve.  The lightweight model has color coding of the interior parts to help visualize flow and real metal fasteners are incorporated into the design for a realistic look.  While the model looks just like the real valve it weighs just a fraction of what the real valve weighs so it is easily transportable.

As you can see from the photo above, which was taken at the show, the valve was positioned below a video of the same valve color coded in the same way so that together customers could get a complete understanding of how the valve functions. It was a great attention grabber and crowd pleaser!

  • Industrial Scale Model Lights Up the Show

Posted on July 25th, 2013 admin No comments

For years designers have used lifelike scale models to demonstrate a new building project or large scale installation. The power of scale makes it easier to visualize the finished project before it begins. Making changes and describing details becomes easy and in many cases saves countless hours and dollars. A 3D representation is much easier for most people to understand and there is little need for collateral materials.

When SPX needed a way to show the complex details of a system installation, they called upon CalCo to create a scaled-down representation of how this solution looks. Starting with a 3D file and some line drawings (see below), CalCo was able to recreate this virtual rendering in the real world, to a predetermined scale. With many of the feature components and solutions spanning multiple floors and rooms, removing some of the walls was going to be mandatory, and removing all of them it turns out, was even better. The model can be used at trade shows, customer meetings or wherever a demonstration of the system is needed

As the display was developing, it became apparent that a solution would be needed to light up the shadowed rooms and further accentuate the details of the installation. The final model came in at around 25 lbs., and included a clear acrylic cover to provide maximum protection while on display.

  • Spring Trade Shows on the Horizon

Posted on March 20th, 2013 admin No comments

The spring trade show season is upon us and CalCo has been busy helping our customers prepare for successful shows. Some companies have been planning their booths since last spring while others are just getting started. At CalCo, we have found that the key to success at the shows is picking the right shows to attend and being prepared to present your message and your product in its best light. This can be accomplished by having a plan that includes professional displays and materials and that are enhanced and reinforced by knowledgeable salespeople.

In case you are thinking of expanding your current exhibition schedule, a brief summary of a few of the upcoming shows follows.

The Mid-America Truck Show or MATS, Louisville, KY,  March 21-23.  This show is for the heavy duty trucking industry.  We have been creating displays for this show for many years and we usually visit the show to see the displays in action. The type of displays is wide ranging.  We have seen complete trucks on display, engine cutaways, full length animation and 3-d models and we have made many of them ourselves.  The show has over 1,000 exhibitors and last year there were over 80,000 attendees from 77 countries.

Hannover Messe Show , Hannover Germany,  April 8-12.  It is billed as the world’s most important technology show and demonstrates new technology and automation. This years theme is integrated industry and there will be 11 trade fairs (Industrial automation, Motion/Drive & Automation, Energy, Wind, Mobilitec, Digital Factory, ComVac, Industrial Supply, Surface Technology, Industrial GreenTec, Research & Technology), occuring simultaneously with over 5,000 exhibitors and an expected 185,000 attendees. We are exhibiting at this show for the first time this year so if you will be there, let us know.

Bauma 2013, Munich, April 15-21.  International show for construction, building material and mining machines and vehicles. With 3,256 exhibitors and an expected 420,000 attendees it is a great opportunity to see some giant machines and make some good contacts. The show is structured around four sectors: All Around Construction Sites, Mining, Extraction & Processing of Raw Materials, Production of Building Materials and Component & Service Suppliers

Offshore Technology Conference, Houston, May 6-9.  The OTC show focuses on the development of offshore resources in the fields of drilling, exploration, production, and environmental protection. The  conference, geared toward energy professionals, offers a comprehensive technical program and exhibits of the latest products and services. With 2,500 exhibitors, 80,000+ attendees and 110 countries representated it is one of the top 200 shows in the US.  We create displays for this show every year which have included,  underground cable cutaways embedded in acrylic, pump cutaways and displays, valves, regulators, couplers, cables, scale models, working models and display stands.  We usually visit the show to see what is new in the industry and it is always fascinating.

Electric Power Expo, Rosemont, IL,  May 14-16.  Over 5,000 power generation industry professionals from around the world attend.  The show, directed towards plant management and corporate personnel from utilities around the world,  is dedicated to each of the leading fuels – coal, gas, nuclear and renewable energy, and multiple tracks filled with cross-cutting content like environmental regulations and technology. There will be over 150 exhibitors  and attendees from 31 countries and 47 US states.

American Water Works Assn Annual Conference and Exposition (ACE 13), Denver, June 9-13.  Designed for Water professionals there are over 900 presenters on a variety of water-related topics and 500 exhibitors from all segments of the water industry.

These are just a few of the shows that CalCo will be visiting soon. Once again trade show attendance is increasing. TSNN (Trade Show News Network) reports an increase of 3% for 2012 over 2011 and the much improved levels of foot traffic at shows is quite obvious. According to the 2012 Pulse Survey, conducted for the Exhibition and Convention Executives Forum, 58 percent of trade shows reported growth in the number of exhibitors in 2012, with only 12 percent reporting a decline, all indications that the trade show circuit is kicking back into high gear ….. so call CalCo at 847-639-3858 and let us help you plan ahead!

  • Your Lightweight 3-D Displays: From a Drawing to Reality

Posted on August 12th, 2011 admin No comments

Are you getting hammered by shipping costs to get your industrial sized displays to trade shows and back? Is the weight, pun intended, of moving your displays becoming tiresome? CalCo has an alternative solution for you and how you display your products; and it’s easier than you may think…

It all starts with a CAD(computer aided drawing) file of your product. Once we are provided with this file we can scale it down to your liking and produce a light weight 3D model for you to tell the story of your new innovating and/or always reliable product. Models are created out of a very durable ABS plastic using a Fuel Deposition Modeling method, know as FDM.

Shown below are two pump models that we recently created for a client.

3-D Pump Model 2Vertical Pump Model

All of the individual part files are printed separately and then built into an assembly using very little glue and mostly scale-version fasteners. You can see some of the parts were printed in color to highlight specific components and areas of the pump to describe features to potential users. These two units normally weigh hundreds of pounds each and can now be brought to a show in carry-on luggage!!

To get started, simply email CalCo your 3D files for a quick and helpful quotation or to discuss the opportunities that are possible today.

For more information call CalCo at 847/639-3858.   Click Here for an article with information about other lightweight options or click here for more contact information.

  • Manufacturing Trade Show Season is in Full Motion

    Navistar Booth at MATS 2011

Spring and Fall have traditionally been the busy months for manufacturing trade shows and this year is starting off well.  We attended the 40th Anniversary of the Mid-America Truck Show in Louisville, Kentucky which was held March 31-April 2.  The auto industry problems of the last few years seemed to be a thing of the past.  With over 1000 vendors, 71,000 attendees and all the latest trends and products on display the MATS show showed great promise for the future.   There were many large displays, engine manufacturers including Navistar had large booths with all the latest technology on display.  There was a lot of conversation over the latest emissions filters for trucks.  All in all the show was a great opportunity to see new products and meet new people.

    IMAG0414IMAG0404

We also visited the ConExpo/IFPE show in Las Vegas,  which is always a big show due to its occurrence only every three years.  This year there were over 2400 exhibitors and 120,000 registered attendees of which 24%  were from international destinations, including 150 different countries.  While the attendance didn’t break records it was still impressive given the tough times the construction industry has endured over the past few years.  Large crowds gathered and there were some big, impressive booths with monstrous equipment. Manufacturers went all out to ship their equipment to the show in hopes of delivering big sales.  Time will tell but those exhibitors we spoke to were happy with the results. The next Con Expo/IFPE show will be held in Las Vegas again on March 18-22, 2014.  See you there!

    IMG_0576 copyIMG_0593IMG_0579IMG_0590

At the beginning of May we attended the OTC Show in Houston.  This years Offshore Technology Conference was the largest exhibition since 1982 in Houston, TX with over 78,000 people in attendance. The energy levels were cautiously high and new products and developments were on display from all over the world.

CalCo sees many of their cutaways and displays end up at this show year after year, and with the high profile attendees and press coverage, it is easy to see why. With more than 2,500 companies on display, it is important to catch the eyes and attention of the right people in a way that spurs healthy conversations and ultimately attracts more business.

From working models to engine displays to hose cutaways, CalCo’s work was all over the 2 massive halls. Whether its in the oil and gas industry, the automotive sector or even the military, the importance of high quality displays is a must. CalCo has been creating the highest end product displays for almost 60 years, and all that history works for you in showing your expertise by leveraging and outsourcing to true experts in the industry.

When the details are important, the service is a must, and the show goes on with or without you, turn to CalCo and get it done right.

Hopefully the high attendance at these trade shows indicates that the lagging economy is recovering nicely.  We came away with a more positive outlook on the future of the automotive and construction industries.  If you have any information about a recent trade show you have attended we would love to hear it!  To contact CalCo call 847/639-3858 or click here.

  • Alternatives to Large Trade Show Displays – Animation, Scale Models and Large Scale Printing

Do you have large products to display at your next trade show?  Are the logistics of moving them around getting to you?  CalCo has some options for displaying your large products in a memorable way.  We offer animation, scale models or large scale printing as alternative options for your large products.

Our animation can show your product in action and it can be completely interactive for your customers.   They can choose whether to start or stop the animation and what information will help them or the animation can play continously.  Additional literature can also be accessed to provide more detailed information.  Our unique perspective on the way products work and the cutaway process give us good insight in to what your customer wants to see and how to achieve it.  The beauty of animation is that it can be used in multiple environments – at a trade show, on your website or on sales calls.
