    Introduced to the commercial construction industry in 1975, World of Concrete brought together original equipment manufacturers from around the world and exclusive U.S. distributors of equipment, tools, products and services for the commercial construction, concrete and masonry industries. WOC attracted approximately 1,450 exhibitors and occupied more than 675,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor exhibit space! Some of the show’s cosponsors included Associated Construction Distributors International, American Concrete Institute, American Concrete Pavement Association, American Concrete Pumping Association and more.

  • Is your trade show booth ready for Mid-America Truck Show (MATS), Offshore Technology Conference(OTC), Hannover Messe or the Bauma Show?

    Over the past few years, some companies have changed focus and are attending either the larger trade shows or more specialized trade shows instead of going to a wide range of shows each year.   That makes the shows that ARE attended that much more important and makes show preparation a crucial component of success.  At CalCo we try to stress the importance of early planning. Before your show, you need to analyze the message you want to convey and what kind of product displays, signage and other materials can help you communicate your message in an effective manner and then give yourself adequate time to create and acquire the right materials.

    While we live in a world where we expect quick turnarounds and instanteous gratification, unfortunately, all trade show displays cannot be turned around immediately.  We get frustrated if we can’t give a customer the exact display they want due to time constraints and the customer gets frustrated too.  This problem can be avoided with early planning.  How early?? That depends on the type of display you need, the show you are attending and the time of year.

    The type of display will partly dictate the time needed for show preparation. Some small displays and cutaways can be turned around in a short time but the majority of the work we do requires 4-8 weeks. Most cutaway jobs require disassembly, cutting of each piece, painting, reassembly, creation of a custom base or stand, creation of a custom shipper.  We pride ourselves on our quality so we take the time to make sure your display lives up to your expectations and our expectations.  For other types of displays like lightweight models, 3-D printing and animation the length of time necessary depends on the complexity of the project and can vary from a few days to a few months. Advance planning will help you get the results that you need from the shows you attend.

    In addition to the time it takes to create your display, you need to consider shipping time too.  While most destinations in the US can be reached in a few days, if necessary, the charge for expedited shipping can be high.  For international destinations, weeks can be required if your display is going by ship instead of flying.  Make sure you consider the time necessary for transportation when getting ready for your show.

    Finally, the time of year can affect your trade show planning schedule since most shows occur in the spring and fall.  During these times our turnaround times can be longer due to the volume.  If we can’t meet your deadline than we won’t take your business.  We don’t like to disappoint our customers.

  • Need an unusual product or display? Call CalCo!

    While most of the projects we work on at CalCo are for traditional types of product displays, cutaways, point of purchase displays and training aids, we are often contacted to create something more unusual and we are happy to help. A few of our more recent unusual requests are a metal firepit, an embedded piece of art and a nine foot tall robot (more details coming soon).  As you can see from the photos above these are one of a kind products and require a customized approach.

    The cornerstone of our business is customer service and we try to keep that in mind not only when we are working on your project but when we are creating the concept and quoting the project as well.   • Eye-Catching Displays Can Make Your Booth More Power-Full

    Walking around the show floor at the recent Power-Gen Show in Las Vegas, it is clear an abundance of power solutions are available, and the market is growing.

    One of the larger exhibitors at the show, Leslie Controls, Inc. (designer and manufacturer of control valves for over a century – providing ZERO LEAK control valves for the power generation, industrial, marine and oil and gas markets), took advantage of their open booth design by placing product and information at every corner of the booth. The overall look was fantastic and drew in many people to learn more about Leslie Controls, and how their product’s advantages set them apart.

  • You Can’t Mix Up a CalCo Cutaway

    We were recently asked to create a cutaway of a mixer, seen below, that would be displayed at one of the biggest fluid handling trade shows in the country.  It was on display at the WEFTEC show in Los Angeles.

    The company conveyed to us how they wanted the mixer to look, including cut area and color scheme matching, we replicated those instructions and included this rail and T block support system which resembles the system used in the field. The company got exactly what they were looking for and we got another satisfied customer.

  • 3-D Animation Shows Your Product in Action Like Nothing Else Can

    Sometimes it is impossible to get your product in front of your customer whether due to size, geography or time constraints. Or maybe your product is extremely complex and it is hard for a customer to grasp all of the different parts that are working together.  In these cases your best solution is animation.  A customized animated video of your product  can show the interior through a cutaway or exploded view.  It can breakdown the various functions into understandable pieces and then put them all together to give a complete and understandable view of your product.  With animation a whole product or system can be studied, broken down into functions and put back together quickly.  Depending on the complexity of your product you can add features to stop, pause or advance the video so that different  areas can be explored.  Additional information in the form of white papers, 3-d drawings, graphs or any other data can be added and accessed easily.  Actual video of your product at work can be included and all with a script describing the attributes and competitive advantage of your product.

    New animation technology is developing all the time.  With Flash technology you have the ability to have an interactive animation that the user can start and stop to individualize their experience.  With Augmented Reality there is even more user interaction for the customer.  A piece of printed paper is used in conjunction with a laptop camera to show a three dimensional shape that can be manipulated by just moving the paper in front of the camera.  Each user can zoom in on parts they want to see better or move to look at what interests them most.  These technologies increase the individual experience for your customer and show your product in its best light.
